Chroma-Q Integrates Heritage and Technology:Lighting a Global Social Media Headquarters in Europe
A leading social media company established its European headquarters in a historic Paris manor. The primary challenge was integrating modern event technology while respecting the building’s limited power supply and architectural significance. The answer was a smart lighting system powered by PoE (Power over Ethernet) that provided broadcast-quality lighting without extensive infrastructure.
The Setup: Compact Design, Exceptional Results
Chroma-Q 2inspire fixtures were chosen as the ideal lighting solution due to their compact design and impressive results. They were in keeping with the venue’s classic style but enhanced the event space’s performance needs.
The fixtures were chosen for their small size, light weight and energy efficiency, which was important because the historic French manor house had limited power. All 18 Chroma-Q 2inspire fixtures and the Pharos controllers were powered by a single Luminex GigaCore 30i switch, simplifying the installation.
Key features of the project included:
- Single-Cable Efficiency: With the Luminex GigaCore 30i as the main hub, each light receives both power and data over a single Ethernet cable. This avoided any major electrical work in the historic building.
- Broadcast Ready: Thanks to the Gen3 LED engine, the space now supports high-speed cameras and live streaming. It offers flicker-free white light (2400K to 6500K) and bright, colourful effects.
- Silent Operation: The lights use a convection-cooled design, so there is no fan noise to disrupt audio recordings or important presentations.
Control and Integration
The system offers intuitive, one-touch operation, allowing any staff member to manage lighting without specialised training. The following products were used:
- Pharos Logic: The LPC4 controller and TPS5 Touch Panel offer a simple, customisable way to control different lighting scenes.
- Unified Ecosystem: All lighting was connected to the client’s Q-SYS AV system, allowing audio, video, and lighting to be controlled from a single location.
- Versatile Accents: Astera Titan Tubes were added to the setup, giving extra creative options for brand events and executive presentations.

This project shows that even historic venues with limited power can become top-notch event spaces with innovative technology. By using PoE technology and integrated controls, this high-profile social media company now has a Paris HQ that looks great both on camera and in person.
